Hey guys
Spring 2019 is well underway and we are about three episodes deep, so I thought it was time to give you my initial thoughts on the shows I am watching. I’ve added a show or two since I’ve given my first list. Let’s get into it after the cut!
Kimiestu no Yaiba
My thoughts after 3 episodes: Ufotable has earned legions upon legions of goodwill due to their adaptations of Fate Stay Night, and like those shows, Yaiba has been a beautiful work of animation that carries much of what looks like to be a standard shounen plot. While it isn’t as good, Yaiba is very much this years Golden Kamuy and has been an enjoyable ride so far. I look forward to what happens next.
CURRENT STATUS: Slaying demons and protecting Scroll-mouth girl.
Nobunaga-sensei no Osanazuma
My Thoughts after 3 Episodes: Ecchi and Harem is in REAL short supply this season, so we have to fight for the scraps we get. Nobunaga-sensei has so far been a fun little series with that classic harem and ecchi humor. While we’ve yet to dip into the full ecchi pool, I’m curious to where this story is going to go, and I hope we have some laughs and boobs along the way.
CURRENT STATUS: Hoping we start seeing the BTOS (Big Titty Onee-San) soon.
Isekai Quartet
My thoughts after 2 episodes: Isekai Quartet is very much in the vein of Carnival Phantasm. You aren’t here for story, you are here for laughs and seeing the casts of four very different (but similar) shows slam against each other. Your enjoyment will depend on how much you enjoyed the series where these characters have come from. Since I’ve loved three out out of the four (sorry Overlord!) I know this is going to be great laughs in the weeks ahead.
CURRENT STATUS: Praising the god of Isekai: Truck-kun
Nande Koko Sensei ga!? (Why are you here Teacher?)
My thoughts after 3 episodes: I would have dropped this if the episodes weren’t so short. I do not understand why this show is STILL censored on the AT-X viewing where they are allowed to get away with this shit. Aside from that though, the characters are fun and the relationship between the first two leads is surprisingly heart-warming. I just wish the company would stop trying to sell the blu-rays and find the balls to start showing the titty. Come on Japan!
CURRENT STATUS: Watching for the plot, the PLOT has failed me.
Fruits Basket
My thoughts after 3 episodes: It didn’t take me long to know why Fruits Basket is considered a landmark series in the Shoujo genre. Melancholic, funny but with a hint of sadness I am starting to see why this series has such a long standing fan-base. I know the true sadness has yet to come (and boy have I heard it’s coming) so I am bracing myself for the feels. I’ve only ever teared up at TWO anime in my lifetime, and I refuse to let Fruits Basket be the third.
CURRENT STATUS: Bring it the fuck ON Fruits Basket. Hit me with your best sadness!
YU-NO: A girl who chants love at the bound of the world.
My thoughts after 3 episodes: This was a latecomer to my list, and I am glad that it was. Apparently one of the first H visual novels, YU-NO is famous in Japan and has recently been remade into an anime series. Watching this show has given me huge Island vibes and there seems to be mystery in every corner. I’m really interested in seeing how this all plays out and hopefully there is some skin along the way!
CURRENT STATUS: Watching and enjoying quite a bit so far! Also red head girl is pretty.
Wise Man’s Grandchild
