On my Radar for Summer 2019: The Three Episode Check-In!

The Summer season has begun and there have been several shows that have I started watching. My list from the last post has changed alot since then, having dropped both Vinland Saga due to it being on Amazon and not bothering to look at Arifureta due to people saying it was just horrible. That being said, there is still plenty to look at, so join me after the cut as I give you my thoughts: three episodes in!

I really changed this list.

Lord El-Melloi II Case Files (Detective Waver)

My Thoughts after 3 Episodes: Detective Waver has been a great return to the Fate world so far, with excellent animation, wonderful characters and a fresh new take on the Fate world. Waver is excellent as the lead and I’ve been really enjoying seeing the Fate world outside of the Holy Grail War. It has that perfect blend of mystery, suspense and film noir, plus everything that makes Fate good (and bad).

CURRENT STATUS: Still watching, still enjoying, and still all about hot-Waver.

Do You Love your Mom and her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks? (Isekai MILF)

Tsuujou Kougeki ga Zentai Kougeki de Ni-kai Kougeki no Okaasan wa Suki Desu ka?
Save me Mommy

My thoughts after 3 Episodes: This show doesn’t suck, in fact it has been much better than I expected it to be. The second episode was rife with great ecchi comedy and wasted no time showing off the humor I hoped this show would bring. Out of the four (four!) Isekai shows we’ve gotten this season, Isekai-Milf seems to be the one that everyone is loving right now, and with good reason. It’s a fresh take on a (very) well worn genre at this point, and even if the change is minimal overall, it is still very welcome.

CURRENT STATUS: Ara-Ara Mama all the way.

Fire Force

Enen no Shouboutai
Red Hot

My Thoughts after 3 episodes: While this series has been red hot for some fans, I’ll admit that Fire Force hasn’t really heated me up just yet. It is so far a pretty good shonen series with some blazing animation, and a unique and fiery take on its powers. However it does feel that the show is blazing through a lot of story beats, and not taking time to let the embers cool between episodes. I’m enjoying my time with it so far, but I don’t know if this fire will be raging much longer.

CURRENT STATUS: Watching to see how many more Fire puns I can squeeze in here.

Magical Sempai

Tejina-senpai
Magic me a piece of dat.

My Thoughts after 3 Episodes: Magical Sempai is a short comedic and fun ecchi show, staring a type of female character that only anime can create. There is not much deep to this show, but it’s wholesome, funny and our titular lead is a real beauty. This is probably the ‘tune in, tune out’ show of the season, and I’m all for it. Plus that opening theme is fucking killer

CURRENT STATUS: Make me appear between dem thighs.

If It’s for My Daughter, I’d Defeat Even a Demon Lord!

Uchi no Ko no Tame naraba, Ore wa Moshikashitara Maou mo Taoseru kamo Shirenai.
Get ready to go “awwww”

My Thoughts after 3 Episodes: This is the show people are either going to love, or going to hate. Right now, My Daughter is the seasons feel good show that is warm and full of love. Latina relationship with her adopted father and the effect it has on both him and everyone around them has been fun to watch, and of course Latina is just so cute that it should be considered illegal. I’ve heard rumors that this shows goes in some….interesting directions in the light novels, but since this will most likely be a one and done season, I’m perfectly content to ignore that and just focus on the cute little girl doing cute little girl things.

CURRENT STATUS: Watching this show, just the show. Not the manga, not the Light Novels. Lalalalalalala I can’t hear you! Lalalalalalalala
