One of the hard truths anime fans had to accept in the wake of the tragic fire at Kyoto Animation was that several projects were going to be put on hold, or cancelled. Miss Kobyashi’s Dragon Maid, which had had its season 2 announcement earlier that year was one such causality. With the death of the anime director in the aforementioned fire, I myself pretty much accepted that the potential season 2 wasn’t going to happen.
So it was a surprise to hear that not only is the second season happening, but it is slated for an 2021 release! This I think is excellent news all around. It’s more Dragon Maid for the fans, and a chance for Kyoto Animation to show that even in the face of tragic circumstances, they get back on that horse. I look forward to hearing more about this as the months go by, and I hope Kyoto Animation takes all the time they need to make it great.

I’m so excited for this! After all the shit that’s gone down this year, I think we could all use some adorable gay dragons in our lives 🐉🏳️🌈

Absolutely, it’s a great series loved by so many, and I am glad it pulled through that horrible episode.

I have to admit, this is one of the few anime announcements that made me yell “YAY” and do a little happy dance. It’s good to see them bouncing back – and it’s a good message to send to all of us about bouncing back after everything this year.
