Nekopara Vol. 2: Here Pussy, Pussy, Pussy

While working through my backlog of anime and stuff to talk about on the blog, the second volume of the Nekopara series was always on the list. As discussed before, the anime adaptation of the series left with me deep and compelling questions about the world and its structure. The visual novel meanwhile provided an fun and adult spin on the series that while I liked, I didn’t really love. It’s just that Love3 -Love Cubed- set such a high bar! So, will the second volume change my mind? After the cut let’s take a dive into Nekopara Volume 2!

Would like a small, or a large?

With the second volume of the series, we once again find ourselves at the La Soleil where our walking fuck-god, sorry, player character Kashou is working on managing his business as well as his staff of human like cat girls. Building on from the previous entry, while both Vanilla and Chocola have become his catpanions (or cum dumpsters, take your pick), the other girls still remain the platonic friendzone. While Kashou is pretty much content with this, his little sister Sayori has other plans, and when fellow cat girls Coconut and Azuki start showing more than a little interest in Kashou well, you pretty much know where it’s going…..

With each successive volume of Nekopara, it is clear that the series will be devoting each episode to a new set of cat-girls. With Chocola and Vanilla being the main characters this time, they now take a backseat to former supporting girls Coconut and Azuki, who take more of a center stage this time. In many ways I enjoy this, as the thrill of reading the Nekopara visual novel is ‘going through the menu’ when it comes to the cat girls on display. Instead of throwing them all in one game however (at least until volume 4), it is content on letting two of the girls at a time take the spotlight, and I think it was the good idea. It lets the girls more time to establish their personality traits and mannerisms, and actually let them stand out in the harem.

Angry in the head, crazy in bed is how you can sum up Azuki. I was surprised by just how into she ends up getting.

Coconut and Azuki both set themselves apart quite well in this volume. As the tallest and shortest of the group, they have a clear big sister/little sister vibe going on, though with a twist in that Azuki is the smallest and oldest, while Coconut is the tallest and youngest. While they love and respect each other, there is also a lot of butting of heads, as Azuki’s brash in charge attitude collides with Coconut’s low self confidence. While everything is made nice in the end, the confrontations between the two feel genuine (as far as something like this goes) and it was good to see such a different pairing compared to the previous game.

The relationship between Coconut and Azuki has more weight to it than our previous outing. Their squabbles show two sisters who really admire and love each other.

Of course, you read the Nekopara Visual Novel for the sex and once again the game delivers. I won’t go on again about how great the art is, it speaks for itself, but Nekopara’s second outing is chalk full of multiple sex scenes featuring both Coconut and Azuki, as well as Chocola and Vanilla, who come in to ‘assist’ their fellow cat girls in joining the ever growing harem. All of them are animated well, with looping gifs don’t feel out of place, and again, the art is just superb. If there is one thing I can knock though, it is that I wish Kashou had had sex with Coconut and Azuki alone, instead of having the other cat girls there. I think it would have given the scenes more intimacy and weight if it was a one on one passionate love-fest, especially for Coconut who seems to be the most nervous about upgrading her relationship to Kashou. Still, everything on display is that polish level you come to expect from NEKO-WORKS, and it rocks each time.

The after sex scene with Coconut really makes me wish the bang-sesh was her and Kashou only. Also that white shirt man….

Look, if you have read and enjoyed the first volume, you are pretty much going to love Nekopara Vol. 2. Everything that made the first one great is here, and there is little if anything to convert anyone on the fence. This is dumb silly harem cat girl porn, nothing more, but thankfully it is probably the best version of it. There have been many hentai and eroge games, and several of them often miss the mark. Nekopara in its second volume is showing what happens though when you put effort (and money) behind things though. It won’t be for everyone, but it absolutely tickles the fancy of a certain kind of fan. Check it out of you have join the cult of catgirl, you won’t want to miss it.
