On my Radar for Winter 2021: The Three Episode Check-in!

Anime Winter 2021 has began in earnest and there is plenty to talk about! Shows have aired, boobs have been seen, feelings have been had, and shows have risen and fallen. With such a stacked season, there is plenty to watch, so after the cut here are my thoughts on my shows, three episodes in!

More quality than EX-ARM

Jobless Reincarnation

The birth of Truck-kun

My thoughts after 3 episodes: Not the first isekai of the new era, but the one that codified all the tropes and archetypes. Jobless has been a wonder to watch. A slow paced story, with steady character growth, a commitment to its ecchi routes, and absolutely breathtaking animation. I knew this show was going to a treat, but I never expected it would be this good. Should it keep up this level of quality, then it is a shoe-in for anime of the year.

STATUS: Panties on the head!

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2

Waiting for Milim’s ass

My thoughts after 3 episodes: It’s been a slow start for Isekai Slime, but a welcome one. There isn’t much to say other than it’s been fun to have Rimiru and the gang back, and that I hope this series continues to hit the highs of the first half of season one, than the rather lackluster second part. Or if they just want to have Milim run around with that ass of hers, either or.

STATUS: Still down for Slime Time.

ReZero: Season 2

We hate Mondays

My thoughts after 3 episodes: I will always be thankful I spent weeks mentally preparing myself for ReZero, in the fact that I went in with zero expectations. While it’s second season has not hit some of the highs as season 1, it still remains a captivating story that you can’t pull yourself away. These first few episodes of the second half have given Emilia some more development (and so many pouts) and I look forward to seeing how the sanctuary story wraps up.

STATUS: Smol Emilia pouts.

So I’m a Spider, So What?

Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka?
Get the fly swatter.

My thoughts after 2 episodes: I realized this winter that I was mostly watching just isekai shows. Knowing that, and realizing that as good as Spider was, Slime was doing the same thing, I’ve put this story on the shelf for now. It’s a good show, and I absolutely will be coming back to it, but too much of one thing is always bad, and frankly there isn’t enough to make Spider stand out that is worth a double dip.

STATUS: DROPPED

Cells at Work! 2nd Season

Hataraku Saibou!!
Mama-Platelet best.

My thoughts after 3 episodes: It’s still Cells at Work, it’s still one of the best educational animes out there, with plenty of cute characters, and great moments. If you liked season one, you’ll enjoy season 2. I know I am.

Wonder Egg Priority

DID YOU SEE THE METAPHOR?

My thoughts after 3 episodes: The ‘artsy’ anime that youtubers and critics will no doubt bend over backwards to praise, Wonder Egg Priority is a beautifully animated story that touches on themes of suicide, second chances and teenage angst. It is a show, like so many before it, that is always on the knife edge from being overly pretentious. I’m having a great time watching it, but I also hear the creators yelling: DID YOU SEE THE METAPHOR! DID YOU SEE IT? every chance they get.

STATUS: Waiting for these eggs to hatch.

Redo of Healer

I can’t believe this is not Hentai

My thoughts after 3 episodes: My views on Redo of Healer are pretty much summed up in my post I did on the second episode. This is a vile and cruel show that completely embraces those two things. Not for everyone, but in this era where people are too afraid to push boundaries, I’m so glad it exists. Each episode continues raising the bar (or lowering it) on the amount of sexual violence there is. It’s disgusting, and I can’t wait for next week.

STATUS: Fluids everywhere!
