On my Radar for Spring 2021: Zombies, Spider Mechs, Gangs, Demons, Shamans and a bullying loli!

Winter 2021 will go down as a very strong anime season, and a great way to start the year. Yet all things must come to an end, and with it, a new anime season looms on the horizon! I’ll be watching a bunch of shows, but there are only a few I wanna initially follow on the blog. What exactly is going to be on my radar this time? Let’s get into it after the cut!

Neomo's Otaku Theater: Spring Anime 2018 Preview - TheOASG

Please don’t bully me, Nagatoro

Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san
A face you’d only see in a hentai

My initial thoughts: Penned and drawn by an artist who is infamous for that kind of hentai. Nagatoro-san is another entry in the ‘annoying girls’ genre, and most of its success will be on how much you like the titular girl. I am just curious if the stupid rage thrown at Uzaki-chan will carry over to this series.

How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Ω

Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu Ω
Back to the Isekai!

My initial thoughts: How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord was my ecchi of 2018, barely beating out the exceptional High School DxD Hero, and for good reason. It was fun, fluffy, and sexy isekai romp that knew what it was, and had plenty of fun doing it. Viewers on Shallow Dives know that I am no stranger to Demon Lord, having reviewed almost all of the light novels, so I can’t wait to see what is up with the anime release!

Shaman King

Shaman King (2021)
*cue 4kids theme*

My initial thoughts: Shaman King is beloved by my generation of shonen fans, but it was something I missed the boat on. Now that it is the next series up for the Full Metal Alchemist treatment (a remake that is as close to the manga as possible) I can finally see what’s up with it! Don’t know if I’ll stick around, as I am a bit of a lasped shonen fan, but who knows, this could have some real money behind it.

Fruits Basket: The Final

Fruits Basket: The Final
Hopefully not the Yuki-show

My initial thoughts: Speaking of shows getting the Brotherhood treatment, Fruits Basket is back for its final season. I love the show, despite my frustrations with certain characters taking too much of the spotlight. I am fully invested in how this ends though, and I can’t wait to see the conclusion.

Zombieland Saga: Revenge

Zombieland Saga: Revenge
Dance the night away

My initial thoughts: I have little love for the idol industry, but lots of love for the over the top, laugh-a-minute Zombieland Saga. To see that we get to go back to this world can hopefully mean good things. Let’s cross those fingers!

Tokyo Revengers

Tokyo Revengers
Gangs of New York

My intial thoughts: A cool premise, and something if it is animated well, may fill in the gap left behind by Jujutsu Kaisen. Absolutely worth a first episode look at least.

War is Waifu

My initial thoughts: Another series that looks interesting. No doubt this is going to the ‘sad’ anime this time around. I bet half those characters end up killed or dead before it is all over. I’ve heard good things about this light novel series, so again, it warrants at least a look!
