This has sorta snuck on me, time just flies so fast! We are about three weeks into the spring season, so it’s time to check in and see how the shows I’m watching are holding up. Now this list has changed a bit since I last did it, I put Tokyo Revengers and Shaman King on the shelf mostly because I wasn’t in the mood to watch them. Not ‘dropped’ per say, but I’ll get to them at another time. I’ve also added a show or two. Either way, let’s get into it all after the cut!
Please don’t bully me, Nagatoro
My thoughts after 2 episodes: Shows like this are wholly dependent on the character, and to be honest. I wasn’t feel Nagatoro. The animation is great, the entire thing is almost pure doujin bait, but I just couldn’t get into it. I got my fill with Uzaki-chan, and I think I’ll settle for that. I hope those who are watching however enjoy this devilish little girl!
How Not to Summon a Demon Lord Ω
My thoughts after 3 episodes: I did not have high expectations for this show. Mostly because it is a minor miracle we even got a second season. And man, have I been wrong. Demon Lord’s second outing has been a bona-fide ecchi hit. Great story, great characters, and most all: upgraded fanservice! I’ve read the novel for this, but it’s even better seeing it on the screen! Redo of a Healer might just have some competition after all!
STATUS: Squeeze that butt!
Fruits Basket: The Final
My thoughts after 3 episodes: I have enjoyed every moment I have spent with Fruits Basket. Whole-hog, and even when I’ve found parts of the show lacking, I can’t deny that this is a stellar adaptation of one of Shoujo’s most admired series. While I do think that series might have been better an as ensemble piece, so far this season has addressed my major hang-up. I’m on this ride to the end, and I have no doubt it will be the conclusion people have hoped for.
STATUS: Would never want to be a parent in this world!
Zombieland Saga: Revenge
My thoughts after 3 episodes: Zombieland Saga Revenge has been able to slip back into its groove with frightening ease. It’s funny, it’s full of charm, and the singing and dancing is better than ever. I care little for the idol industry, but this remains the one idol show I can totally get behind. I’m really curious to see if my theories about the story turn out to be true, but until then, it’s SAGA all the way!
STATUS: Not losing my head!
My thoughts after 3 episodes: As I expected, 86 is the big show of the season, (though Higehiro has gotten a surprising amount of eyes on it) Following in the footsteps of Iron-Blooded Orphans, this is a gritty show about war, fighting and blatant disregard for human life. I’ve enjoyed it a lot so far, but I do hope that we don’t spend too much time on trying to force our leading lady into eating some humble pie. Still, this has been a welcome return to the mecha-genre for me, and I want to see what’s next.
STATUS: Shit, did I leave my mic on?
The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent
My thoughts after 3 episodes: This almost passed me by, but a friend insisted I watch it, and hot damn am I glad I did. Saint’s Magic is honestly my favorite show of the season right now. I love the music, I love the world, I love the pace, I love that for some reasons every single male in this story is a chiseled Greek god. This series just rocks, and I really hope it stays the course. Indulgence cuts both ways, and I, a harem-fan till I die, can still enjoy a show like this.
STATUS: Seriously, why are all the men so hot? It’s almost comical.
