Don’t @ Me: Six of my Anime Opinions: Brake Repairs Edition

It’s Monday, which means it is time for this! Welcome back to Don’t @ Me! The place where, like my car repair bill, I cost way too much as I give you my thoughts and opinions on everything in the anime and manga world. This week is yeah…that shit. Let’s get into it after the cut!

  1. Fuck the break routers and callipers of a car. One of them breaks and all of a sudden it’s over 1200 to get it all fixed. That hurt my wallet.
  1. The dub of Spy x Family has been remarkably good. Nothing amazingly great and no candle towards the sub, but it’s far better than expected.
  1. I think translators, especially those who are active on twitter would fare better if they remembered that most of the anime community still bears the scars of the 4kids era, where translations completely gutted the anime during those years. There is a track record that, despite that era being well over with, still exists. A light touch wrapped in that awareness might help.
  1. That said, there is a level of vitriol towards translators that I think is unjustified. Yes, I hate ‘the discourse’ as much as the next person. Yes there are some who let their personal beliefs colour work that should be as objective as possible, but 95% of them are good people trying to do a job that doesn’t pay that well. Let’s try to remember that a wee bit.
  1. Been really tempted to try out the Final Fantasy pixel remaster. I’ve seen and heard a lot of good things about it. I was a big fan of the 2d games as a kid, beating most of them, I’d love to try them again.
  1. I reveal The Summer of Love IV tomorrow! I hope you enjoy what I have in store!
