Anime in 2021 is all but over, and it has been one hell of a year. Not the all-time banger that was 2020, but plenty of good shows that I’ve enjoyed watching. I don’t watch as much as other people, but I do watch enough to throw up one of these lists. Like I did at the halfway point, it’s time to discuss the best, and the worst of this year. Granted not much has changed, but hey, a post is a post! After the cut, here are the best and worst anime in 2021.
Even in a lackluster season, there is always one or two anime that stand out. For this show, I think having nothing really else that was ‘omg wow!” has helped it a lot. But I also think that it has allowed this show to get the attention and praise it deserved. After the cut let’s take a dive into the anime series: Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S.
This blog post is going to be different, because I’m not going to be really talking about SOTSU itself. While there is stuff to discuss, too much of it is just a re-hash of GOU done through the eyes of a different character. Interesting stuff at times, but nothing that I can really pull out myself. Instead I’m going to discuss the entire Higurashi sequel. Either way, let’s get into Higurashi -SOTSU- after the cut.
I said in my last post that this season has given us two shows that have reminded me of how much I love the ecchi and harem genres. We’ve discussed the first one, now it is time to talk about the second. A show that took me by surprise, but am glad that it did. After the cut, let’s take a dive into the Mother of Goddess Dormitory.
A common idea you’ll see around this week is that this anime season was very lackluster. While there was nothing truly bad, there was no heavy-hitter or show that really took off. This is mostly due to delays because of the pandemic, and while it sucked, it also gave people, myself particularly, a chance to take a breather. It also let me take a look at the harem and ecchi genre, and two shows this season have reminded me why I love these shows so much. We’ll be talking about both of these this week, so after the cut lets take a dive into the first series: Girlfriend, Girlfriend.
Summer 2021 has been the break I think we all needed. There is very little in the way of heavy-hitters, and honestly, that’s great. Having to focus on amazing shows each season can get a little exhausting, so having a season about nothing important can be a great palette cleanser. Or in this case, just binging on trash. With that, we are mostly three episodes deep now, so it’s time to give you my thoughts! As always, this list has changed a bit, (No Great Jahy until August!) but let’s get into it after the cut!
The series is done. After three or so years, this legendary series has come to a close. Something that fans have been wanting for a long time, and that people like myself have heard about, but went along for the ride for the first time. A series full of ups and downs, great animation, wonderful music, and sometimes that monkey zodiac. It’s time now though, to give you my final thoughts, at least at this stage. So after the cut let’s jump into it. This is Fruits Basket.
Spring 2021 is just about finished and it has been a great run, but that also means that Summer 2021 is almost upon us! We have a bunch of cool series and sequels coming, but what am I going to be watching? After the cut let’s see what’s going to be on my radar (at least for now) for Summer 2021!
