Once again we have finished another year in anime. Plenty of amazing shows, plenty of shows that were good, and other shows that weren’t. I’ve hummed and hawed over my list, and finally come to my decision regarding what I think is the best and worst of the year. Have things changes since my last halftime look? Well sit down, relax and let’s find out right after the cut!
I wasn’t thinking I would find a show that could take the place of The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent so soon after it’s debut. Yet it only took a few seasons and here we are! Let’s not waste anymore time and after the cut, take a dive right into Parallel World Pharmacy!
If you’ve read my blog, then you know that my time with Overlord has been a love-hate sort of relationship. I tried it, didn’t like it, tried it again, was a bit better, then finally gave it another shot and came around to enjoying it. Part of that was me accepting the series for what it is, not what I thought and wanted it to be. With that said, how does the fourth installment hold up? Well after the cut let’s take a dive into Overlord IV and find out!

You know what I miss? Having more B and C grade shows to watch. Not shows that are mediocre or just sloppy, but shows that are good because they are comfortable being what they are. Show that aren’t trying to be the best, or redefine the discourse, Just anime that are happy showing up, telling their story and then bowing out. Even if those shows are middling to ‘eh’, it is important to have those around. Now does the show we are looking at today do this? Well after the cut let’s take a dive into Engage Kiss and find out.
I’ve always maintained a feeling of ‘eh’ when it comes to super popular anime shows. You know, the ones that come out and have everyone and their mother talking about it. It’s all over social media, and everyone feels like they need to talk about it, or loudly proclaim it is the next greatest thing. Shows like that turn me off and make me not want to watch them, at least until that rapid fever breaks. It’s why when I watched shows like Sword Art Online and Neon Genesis Evangelion, it was well and beyond the time when the general public stop caring.
Yet, sometimes I break that rule and a show slips through regardless of those guardrails. A show that I just can’t help but want to check out. That’s what we are talking about today ,so let’s check out Cyberpunk: Edgerunners after the cut.
While it is a minor miracle that this show even got a second season, the joy at that happening doesn’t mean it gets a free pass for what it actually is. I am not a harsh critic here at Shallow Dives in Anime, but I also don’t pull my punches. If something doesn’t work, then it doesn’t work. I won’t call it an abomination or the worst thing to ever happen, but I won’t look the other way either. I call it like I see it, praising the good and what works, along with the bad and what doesn’t. With all that said, let’s take a dive into the second season of The Devil is a Part-Timer after the cut.
Summer 2022 is reaching its conclusion and we have to talk about it! I’ve not dropped anything so far (except for Harem Labyrinth as I hunt for the uncensored version), and I got some thoughts on everything! Let’s get into it all after the cut!
Summer 2022 continues and so far, it has been another middle of the road fare. Some good shows, but nothing that has been ‘great’. As always, I like it when the anime industry ‘see-saws’ with its work, because having back to back amazing seasons can be overwhelming. With that said let’s take a look at the series I’m watching now that they are three episodes in!
Spring 2022 is all but over and it has been a very solid outing. That also means that Summer is right around the corner. Taking a look at the list, it seems to be another lesser go around, with no real shows that are heavy-hitters. That said I got a few I want to watch, so let’s see what’s on my radar for Summer 2022 after the cut!
