Winter 2021 for anime has been another banger year in a recent trend of banger years. So many great shows, shows that would absolutely be year-end hits if not for the massive titan like shape looming over everything. We are eight episodes in now, so it’s time to give you my thoughts on what I’m watching after the cut!Read More »
My conversation with Infinite Zenith about Higurashi continues! We’ve discussed much, and in this round we finish up our chat by talking about Rika, Miyo, and the paradigm shift that was the second season! It was a good back and forth, and I hope you’ll enjoy it!
I was lucky enough to sit down with my good friend and fellow blogger Infinite Zenith once again! We always love getting deep into a series and when we both realized we watched and loved Higurashi, we knew it was inevitable we’d dive into. Take a look for yourself as we discuss everything from the first season and give our thoughts on one of anime’s best and bloodiest!
This blog is not new to Higurashi, a show that remains one of the more infamous shows of the fan-sub era. Full of horror, terror, and oozes of blood. It was one of the few shows to pull you in, and then be able to completely re-invent itself for its second half, and still remains good. I loved the series, and when I heard that it was being remade, I knew it would be anime I’m watching. How did it end up? Join me after the cut as I dive into Higurashi: When The Cry – Gou-Read More »
With only a few exceptions, I will talk about anything anime related here at Shallow Dives in Anime. This means that I’ve covered a wide range of different shows, from the comedic, to the action packed, to the straight up lewd. I quite enjoy this approach, mostly because I believe you can find a good story in any genre if the effort is put in. Throughout the two years I’ve done this blog however, there have been three shows that really stood out to me. Anime that talks about interesting ideas, or have compelling stories, or take risks in what they show. Some are better than others, not all of them are considered ‘good’ by the fandom, but they are still worth talking about. I’ve spoken about them all before, but after the cut let’s discuss School Days, Higurashi and Yosuga no Sora, or as I call it. Anime’s Blood and Sex Trilogy.
Fall 2020 is getting near the now, and we are in the last quarter of the seasonal series! How are they holding up after eight episodes? Let’s see what’s on my radar after the cut!
I finally got around to dusting this series off, and I’m glad I took my time with it. One of the classics of the early 2000s and the fan-sub era, Higurashi has been a show that has taken viewers for a ride, putting it mildly. But with the second half of the series comes some changes that may alter how one things of the show? Do they work? After the cut let’s take a dive into Higurashi: When they Cry kai.
Back when I was in my youth when I was hanging out on silly abridged series forum. Several of my fellow posters were gushing about a certain show. A show that they couldn’t get enough off, that apparently spoke to them in ways that only something could to a teenager. I never really looked into this show, it just didn’t pass my radar. As the years, and then decade passed, I had heard rumblings of this show, but again never really paid attention. Flash forward to Fall 2020, and it’s remake, (or sequel, or re-quel, whatever) is airing. I figured I had some free time, so I decided to take a look at the 2006 original and see what I had been missing. What I saw was a pretty fucked up ride. After the cut, let’s take a dive into the horror series When the Higurashi Cry.
Fall 2020 is humming along and we’ve got plenty to talk about! I’ve dropped a few shows, and fallen in love with some others! Let’s not waste anytime and get into my three episode thoughts after the cut!
