Best and Worst of Anime 2021

Anime in 2021 is all but over, and it has been one hell of a year. Not the all-time banger that was 2020, but plenty of good shows that I’ve enjoyed watching. I don’t watch as much as other people, but I do watch enough to throw up one of these lists. Like I did at the halfway point, it’s time to discuss the best, and the worst of this year. Granted not much has changed, but hey, a post is a post! After the cut, here are the best and worst anime in 2021.

Sitting down with Crow: The Asterisk War vs Chivalry of a Failed Knight

I’ve discussed both The Asterisk War and Chivalry of a Failed Knight on this blog, and I’ve discussed both of them with my fellow blogger Crow. He has been a big fan of Asterisk War, and quite enjoyed Failed Knight. I’ve had my hang-ups with both, but we also knew that when I finished watching we’d have to talk about them. So that’s just what we did! It was a fun back and forth and I hope we can do it again, I hope you will enjoy it as well!

Higurashi GOU/SOTSU’s Sakoto Hojo: The Certainty of Change

I just keep finding myself coming back to this series! While I’m currently working on another collaboration post with a fellow blogger, I wanted to take some time and discuss a character that has interested me for a while now. While many people have turned on GOU/SOTSU for reasons both understandable and not, I do think there is a lot of good that isn’t being shown. With that, let’s take a dive into the character of Sakoto Hojo right after the cut.

School Day’s Makoto Itou: Also a Victim

I’ll go to my grave defending School Days, and I’m not talking about the ending. I mean the entire show. In all these years running the blog, I have never seen a show that intrigued me more than School Days. A show dismissed by many, but to me, a well of interesting characters and stories. I’ve discussed the other chararcters in dives before, but I held off on discussing the male lead. No longer though, and I’ve got plenty to say. After the cut let’s take a dive into School Days Makoto Itou

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S: Twin Triumph

Even in a lackluster season, there is always one or two anime that stand out. For this show, I think having nothing really else that was ‘omg wow!” has helped it a lot. But I also think that it has allowed this show to get the attention and praise it deserved. After the cut let’s take a dive into the anime series: Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S.

Girlfriend, Girlfriend: Comedic Absurdity

A common idea you’ll see around this week is that this anime season was very lackluster. While there was nothing truly bad, there was no heavy-hitter or show that really took off. This is mostly due to delays because of the pandemic, and while it sucked, it also gave people, myself particularly, a chance to take a breather. It also let me take a look at the harem and ecchi genre, and two shows this season have reminded me why I love these shows so much. We’ll be talking about both of these this week, so after the cut lets take a dive into the first series: Girlfriend, Girlfriend.
