Anime in 2021 is halfway over, and it has been a banger of a year so far. Many great shows, a bunch of really good ones, and a few that make you question the existence of god. Now that we’ve reached the halfway point, it’s time to give out my thoughts on what I think is the best, and the worst, of the year so far. This list will no doubt change by the time the end of 2021 rolls around, but here is where I stand! Let’s get into it after the cut.Read More »

As I’ve said before, the best thing about anime, one of its (many) secret sauces, is the ability to take any idea or concept and make it compelling. Yes there are many clunkers, but when an anime hits it right, it can really hit it right. How many thought a series about working at a burger place would be compelling? The Devil is a Part Timer says yes. An anime about girls fighting with their boobs and butts? Keijo!! says hi. A story about one dude being a bartender? Look no further than Bartender. And the list goes on. But there are some ideas that I think would be really cool that (to my knowledge) haven’t been done yet. After the cut, let’s take a look at five of my own ideas!Read More »
I’m doing this a little earlier than planned, but I go plenty to do this week regardless. While 2020 may have been a shit year for most people, it has been an absolute banger for anime. So many great series, so much good music (like oh my god so much good music), and so many cute girls. I already gave my thoughts on what I thought the best and worst was at the halfway point, but now it is time to show you my final selections. After the cut let’s get into the best, and worst of anime in 2020.
I like lists, do you like lists? Well I heard you like lists. A few months ago I threw out my second post that discussed my favorite lines from anime and manga. Today I’m going to do the same thing! Join me after the cut as I give you five more of my favorite lines!
Hey guys. I’m super busy with real life stuff this week, so this’ll be the last post until probably Monday, so we are going to keep it simple. I like lists, and I heard you like lists. In the same vein as when I discussed my eleven favorite anime since I started Shallow Dives. Today it is the top thirteen favorite songs since I started the blog! Let’s get into it after the cut!
The summer season of anime is just about to get started which means we’ve now reached the halfway point for Anime 2020. Despite being handicapped by the pandemic there have still been some hits. Join me after the cut as I give you my preliminary bests and worsts of everything anime has offered this year. This list is absolutely subject to change as we still got two seasons left to go!
I know you all like lists, and it was shocking that after all of the years, I didn’t actually have page on My Anime List! It’s the website considered to be the place to go to rank and discuss anime, and I figured it was time I threw one up as well. This list is still very much in progress, but it is a good idea of where I rank several of the anime I’ve watched. Only a handful of 10s, but plenty that are ranked 9 and 8. I hope you enjoy!
A long while ago, I tossed out a list of my top favorite anime and manga series of all time.I do really want to go back and re-do that list, because there has been some big changes, but today I thought I’d do something different. Below is a list of my favorite anime series, manga, light novel, everything since I’ve started blogging. That means no Fate Stay Night, ReZero, Gundam, Date A Live, or High School DxD. This is only stuff that I’ve watched since I started Shallow Dives in Anime. These aren’t in any order (except my number one favorite) so let’s get into it after the cut!
My last attempt at a tag: ‘Put a Tune to it’ was rather successful, and I was thinking about what I’d do next. Well, as any anime fan in this era knows, Light novels are infamous for having long ass (sometimes comically so) titles for their stories. How Not to Summon a Demon Lord. I didn’t want to get hurt so I maxed out my defense. Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon? The list goes on and on. We’ve all have a laugh about these over the years, and I got to wondering, what if some of the series that have shorter titles where given the Light novel treatment?
Welcome to “Give it a Light Novel Title” where you give an overly long title to a series that doesn’t have one! Here are the rules!
- Choose up to five anime, manga or visual novel series that have a short title
- Light novels that have shorter titles (Date A Live for example) are also allowed.
- Give these series a new title based on those classic overly long Light Novels we love!
- If someone has already picked a series you wanted. It’s OK! Let’s see your own take on the title!
- Link back to the original post so I can read people’s suggestions, I’d love to read everyone’s ideas.
- Include Give it a Light Novel title in your tags so everyone including myself can find them all easily.
- Nominate around 1-6 bloggers. I nominate
- Al’s Manga Blog
Thanks for taking part. Here are my five after the cut!
