On my Radar for Summer 2022: The Eight Episode Check-In!

Summer 2022 is reaching its conclusion and we have to talk about it! I’ve not dropped anything so far (except for Harem Labyrinth as I hunt for the uncensored version), and I got some thoughts on everything! Let’s get into it all after the cut!

The Devil is a Part-Timer Season 2

My thoughts after seven episodes: The Monkey’s Paw is real with this show. While I don’t feel as betrayed as other people, I can’t deny that this show has some real janky animation at times. Of course we should be lucky we even got to come back to this world, and what we have is pretty solid. Nothing spectacular, but it’s a fun show to watch and really nothing harmless than that.

STATUS: Peep, Mother Fucker.

Overlord IV

My thoughts after eight episodes: Overlord continues to be a fun show where we watch a former Japanese salaryman Mcgoo his way into world domination. I have always not cared about the secondary cast, but I am started to warm to them once I realize that this is a show about them reacting TO Ainz. The recent episode with the dragons was fun, and I loved the fat one. The ending credits and its art always remain a treat as well. Four seasons in, and I’m enjoying this very much.

STATUS: Grabbing the heart of a dragon.

Parallel World Pharmacy

My thoughts after eight episodes: Why do I love this show so much? It’s just so damn fun, with a great cast and a treatment of medicine that feels fresh and new for anime. Watching the world deal with Pharma trying to give everyone affordable health care is entertaining as fuck. The world feels developed and established for what it’s trying to do. It’s nothing amazing, but this is easily sliding into my ‘Personal recommendation’ of 2022. So far the perfect ‘tune in, tune out,’ palette cleanser anyone can use.

STATUS: Running a cart of shit into a Shoppers Drug Mart.

Engage Kiss

My thoughts after eight episodes: Jesus fuck, is Engage Kiss something weird. Every time I think I’ll drop it, it comes out with some new idea or episode that pulls me back in. Is it good? Not really, but it is a B-movie slop that is honest about what it is, and has fun doing it. I love that the characters are allowed to develop their relationships. Plus there is a nun who only takes off her headdress when she’s banging the mercenary who hired her. Inject that shit into my veins.

STATUS: Sharon Mother-Fucking Holygrail.
